What the ... Facebook fuckery?!?!?!?

Lately my Facebook page has been spammed with ads for facemasks to protect you from Covid-19. It started off last week as a few a day. Now I can't scroll down 2-3 pages without having one of these ads jump out. To make a point lately I have been reporting every one I saw as offensive. The SAME ads still show up along with new ones. Which just goes to prove the point that Facebook (the people running it and who own it) doesn't care about us ... all they care about is money.

At a time like this, when protective gear is in short supply in so many countries, they allow tasteless ads like this. Fuck off and send the masks to where they are needed on the frontline fighting the virus and trying to keep people alive. It is bad enough that these companies are trying to make a profit off of peoples fears and lives, then you have Facebook doing the same.

Which of course begs the question; are these masks any good or just a way to rip off people? If they are actually a good product they should be going to where they are needed most. If they are a rip off, well, thanks again for allowing ripoff ads Facebook.

While typing this I went back to my Facebook page and scrolled down 2 pages. What did I see? The ad that prompted me to write this AGAIN. This AFTER reporting it to Facebook as offensive  and having them lie, again, and say I wouldn't see it again.

Sadly, I didn't expect better from Facebook. Years back they had no problem allowing a dating site to advertise using the image of an underage girl that was raped and committed suicide.

It might be time to get rid of Facebook. While it has its uses BS like this makes me wonder if it does more harm than good.

Facebook Follies ... Whack Jobs.

There is a twat on Facebook that goes by the name of Kevin Hay. He is a conspiracy theorist that loves promoting fake shit. Normally I don't waste my time considering morons like him but when he tried to present something as fact that could EASILY be proven wrong ... without even citing anything to back up his statement, it irked me.

A little background info on Kevin, from his Facebook page.He says he is a Manager at one company and runs his own cosmetics business too. Other than a lot of posts pushing one conspiracy theory or another, and whining about people that complain about him, not much of substance to his page. Yet he wrote a post about Fidel Castro being Justin Trudeau's real father as if he had access to the information, mainly a suicide note. He cites no sources and takes all credit.

According to Snopes this myth has been around since someone started it 2016.

"On 27 November 2016, two days after Castro’s death was announced, a user on the Donald Trump subreddit /r/The_Donald presented a theory that Justin Trudeau, the son of former prime minister Pierre Trudeau, was actually the love child of Fidel Castro and Margaret Trudeau. "

Snopes then proceeded to prove how wrong this was.

It is bad enough when people perpetuate this shit but to try and make it look like you have some access to the suicide note. What else can you expect from an internet whackjob?

I hate pop ups. They are usually annoying ads. Or stupid warnings. Facebook uses them too. Today, as I was sharing a video post something from Facebook popped up.

Why the fuck do I need a pop up from Facebook about my setting? I set the fucking thing. I know what it is. I know what it is set for. Of course it hasn't been fucking changed recently because it is set to what I want. Surely to god Facebook can find something better to pester people about.

So I choose the skip option and what do I get?

Another fucking pop up just to let me know that they left the setting at what I set it for. Considering I never changed it that is neither a surprise or pop-up worthy. Thank you so much for allowing me to leave it on the setting I chose.

If you want to do something constructive actually allow people to tell you what they think/want in their own words when you ask for input.

Facebook you continue to fail to impress me. However, you do provide fodder. :)

What the ... Laurierism?!?!?!?

A friend shared something on Facebook from some mook named Rob East. Actually it was something he shared, of something a friend shared, that a friend shared, that Rob East made available. Oh what a tangled web we weave ... but I am getting ahead of myself.

Mr. East posted a photo of a quote to Wilfred Laurier in 2015. All it took was reading the first sentence, Mr. East's opening and only comment, for me to call bullshit on it. He wrote;

"I AM CANADIAN ... maybe we should remember the words of our founding fathers." 

Canadian? Really? Ok, we do have our share of fuckwits in Canada and a lot of morons. He could be Canadian and a prime example of either of those. Or maybe he is an American.

Founding fathers?!?!?!? Really?!?!? THAT sounds like something an American would say. Not a Canadian. In Canada we have The Fathers of Confederation. NOT founding fathers. On top of that, Laurier was NOT one of them.

He then went on to post the statement attributed to Laurier. A statement which had a huge glaring error in it. Can you pick out the error?

Did you see it? In the last half of the statement? Yeah, this one.

"We have room for only one flag, the Canadian flag."

BAARRRRRRRRRRP! Canadian Flag? In 1907? The Canadian flag was NOT adopted until 1965! Until then we flew the Union Jack aka The United Kingdom Union Flag.

The whole statement sounds more like something an American would say. Thanks to the miracle of the internet and a handy site called Snopes it was easy to find out who this statement belongs to. In it's original form and not what Mr. East bastardized it into (or someone else did and Mr. East didn't bother attributing it to them) it was made by ... Theodore Roosevelt. A search on Snopes using Laurier showed that.

A google search then showed that this piece of BS, the quote not Mr. East, has been around the internet since at least 2012. Maybe longer. Which means Mr. East was just passing on the BS without showing where he found it.

Good try Mr. East but I smelled the bullshit from the start.

Then you have the twat waffles in the comment section.

The fucking moron who said she AGREES "n"  does so without prejudice. Which is codespeak for I am a fucking racist.  Nice try asshole.

Or The last commenter who really doesn't know anything about Laurier. She was right he is a Canadian through and through but if she believes this piece of tripe was really him she has NO idea what a Canadian is, let alone who Laurier was.

What the .... love for France?!?!?!/

Damn this is late. But ................

Wow. Someone beat me to the punch using the vitriol I would use. A friend showed me a post by a Facebook "friend" of his that lambasted those who purport to love/support France but are just posers.

He wrote:

I lost a "Facebook Friend", someone who had been a real friend for years before I went home, over this fucktardery. She had used Facebook to change her profile picture to have the image of the French flag superimposed over it. This was her way of "showing support" for France after the Paris attacks. A couple of days later when the #tragedyhipsters were bringing up Beirut she made a post castigating people for not showing support for Beirut but gushing about Paris.

What can I say, I couldn't help myself and simply said "Didn't you just use the image of the French flag while not saying anything about Beirut?"

For some strange reason we are no longer Friends. She never blocked me so I may just have called her on her hypocrisy again but now I seem to be blocked. Yet, life, real life, goes on. Despite these first world bullshit problems and hypocrites.

So ... I logged onto Facebook to be told about something on Instagram.

Seriously ... I need Facebook to tell me about what is trending on another Social Media site? Oh ... wait ... I get it. Facebook is THAT hard up that it is leeching off of what other Social Media sites have trending. Now it makes sense.

Fuck off Facebook. If I wanted to know about anyone on Instagram I would be actually following them on Instagram.

Give feedback eh? Now to me that means I will be able to tell them what I think about Facebook and how I think they can improve it. But to Facebook it just means ...

... their craptastic survey. They will show you 10 sets of images and you choose the 1 you would prefer to see on your news feed. News feed being their way of saying Facebook page. What news "stories" do you get shown?

They take "stories" friends have posted that appeared on your page and ask you to either choose between the two or hit can't decide. Wow. What a great measure this is"news" I would want to see. What a great way to give input!

And as I mentioned in my previous post, you will get one image showing up multiple times.

The cat video "news story" showed up FOUR FUCKING TIMES. I didn't choose it the first or second time so why keep bringing it back?!?!?

You really suck at getting feedback from people Facebook. Stop pretending you really care what people think and just go about doing whatever like you used to. If you aren't prepared to REALLY accept input from people just fuck off.

What the ... Judd?!?!?

Who the fuck is Judd Apatow and why should I care about what he has to say? Ok, Facebook thinks I would be ingterested vis-a-vis trending to know wh he is.

According to trending Judd Apatow is upset that Canadian venues haven't cancelled Bill Cosby and is severely pissed off. Yet I still find it hard to care.

Then I found out, thanks to Wikipedia, that "he is an American film producer, director, comedian, actor, and screenwriter. He is best known for his work in comedy films ..." Yet I still don't give a shit what he thinks about just abut anything.Ooops, sorry. I actually don't care what he thinks about anything. Fucking "celebs" and the media that panders to them, who think that what is going through their minds, or moths, really matters. As a wise man once said "Opinions are like assholes. Facebook Trending Stupidity Continues

And now the continue saga of Facebook Follies. Just when you think Facebook can't make itself look stupider they find a way. Look at the Trending headline about Rob Ford from this morning.

What is wrong with that trending headline you ask? Well, Rob Ford didn't run against his bother. So he didn't defeat his brother. Rob Ford ran for his old City Council spot and won it. Doug Ford ran for Mayor of Toronto against John Tory, Olivia Chow, and some others who just aren't that memorable. He lost.

You would be safe saying John Tory defeats Doug Ford.

You would be a fucking moron to say Rob Ford defeats Doug Ford.

Facebook. Fucking morons. Damn if that doesn't sound right to me.
