What the ... shark?!?!?

So ... as so many stories start ... we are doing the drop ... insert band camp comment here ... and one of my comments lead to Motormouth spouting off.

I say "That is like tossing chum into the water for the sharks."

MM says "Yeah!"

Fabio says "MM do you know what a shark is?"

MM quickly says: "Yes! A shark is a mammal!"

And he meant it. Everyone else on the drop started laughing their ass off. MM was still serious. what a fucktard.

MM: It is the same.

We were on the drop and started talking about food. Motormouth decided to chime in about the stuff he buys at the dollar store. Sarge said it is cheap but it isn't the same quality as brands at the supermarket. That set MM off.

"It is made by the same company so it is the same."

Sarge replied "They often use different ingredients."

Me "And a lot more salt."

MM "Yeah the use different ingredients but they are exactly the same."

J-Man shakes his head and says "You realize what you are saying?"

MM nods his head and says "Yeah. They are exactly the same."

Sarge "But made from different ingredients."

MM "Yeah! They are the same."

Everyone starts chuckling.

Sarge shakes his head and says "You are a fucking moron. They are made from different ingredients. They aren't the same."

MM "They are. They come from the same place!"

J-Man smirks and says "Shit and diarrhea come from the same place but are different."

Silence from MM while the rest of us laugh.

Facebook and Friends

I can't remember the last time I sent out a Facebook friend request to a friend of a friend. A year? More? The last Facebook friend request I sent out was yesterday, to a co-worker, and they accepted it.

Yesterday I got a message from Facebook chastising me for sending a friend request to someone I didn't know. Which was a huge surprise to me. They threatened to cut off my ability to send friend requests if I kept this up. Which, after consideration, would be no big loss. Let them come to me. :)

I did send a message to someone that I don't know. But it was a message and NOT a friend request. An old friend, from 11 years back, has a Facebook account with about 3 friends. Facebook keeps pushing "friends" on me that I don't know ... but Facebook feels I may know them and want to send them a friend request because we have a mutual friend. In some cases they have the same name as a friend BUT NO friends in common and Facebook still suggests we may know each other. Talk about entrapment. Mind you, I usually ignore the Facebook suggestions.

So, my crime was sending a message to this friend of a friend I would like to re-establish contact with. (If that was the offence.) I messaged them saying Hey, we have a mutual friend I have lost contact with. sorry for bothering you, please ignore this at your leisure, but if possible would you let them know I lost their email, mine is the same, could they email me.

Whether they took offence to that or not I can only speculate. Evidently something made Facebook feel that I was bothering people and needed a tongue lashing. I could use a good tongue lashing, but not the kind Facebook gave. ;)

Which brings me to the crux of my rambling. A point a friend of mine made several times and I have mentioned. If Facebook doesn't want us annoying people that we don't know why the fuck do they keep suggesting "friends" we may not know. Especially friends that we have NO friends in common with. If they didn't suggest friends I am pretty sure a lot of people wouldn't reach out to them, and end up banned for a while by Facebook.

Why not allow people to select the option of NOT having Facebook recommend them? And if they allow it they have no grounds for complaint.

And if Facebook keeps suggesting friends and then turns around and bans the friend requesting ability of those who use their suggestions maybe Facebook should just fuck off.

HRM and Winter Road Care

They, meaning the Halifax Regional Municipal Government, wonder why people get so pissed off about the way they take care of the roads in the winter. The answer can be summed up in one word; inconsistency.

Last Wednesday, January 16, they were calling for 10-15 cm of snow starting around noon. HRM had salt trucks out at FIVE AM!!!! The snow started, lightly at first, around 11:30. The roads were more than ready and the plows were ready. By the time rush hour started and the roads were ok. Sure there were some fender benders, mainly due to idiots driving too fast for the road conditions. The plows had been and were still out. Schools didn't have to be closed early.

Today, Tuesday, January 22nd, we have snow. They were calling for it to start overnight. It didn't start until around 6AM. Were the salt trucks out and the plows on standby? No. I took the dog to the park for a walk at 7AM and the roads were shite. No salt trucks had been by. NO plows had been by. I was on bus routes for the most part which HRM says are the FIRST places salted and plowed. It was pathetic. At 9:30 I had to take my mother out. The roads still hadn't been touched. At Noon I found myself out again and the roads were still in sad shape. By 1 PM I had seen ONE plow. The MIDDLE of my street, which is part of a bus route, had been plowed. ONLY the middle. Which of course meant that fucktards treated it as a one lane road.

Schools had been closed or rather NEVER opened because of the "storm". The previous Wednesday they didn't have to close early. The snowfall was pretty much the same both "storms". What a wild difference from the way the city responded a week before.

Why the blue hell would the response to snow be so inconsistent? HRM will whine about not being able to please everyone but this goes beyond that. It smacks of incompetency in the staff who are in charge of dealing with winter roads. They get their weather information from the same source I, and many others do, Environment Canada via the Weather Channel. Yet they can't seem to get their act together.

HRM often tries to use the excuse that the weather took them by surprise. The snow Tuesday was LATE starting so how the hell were they NOT ready? Inconsistent. Incompetent. One does lead to the other.

Cindy Lauper

Cindy Lauper played a psychic on the latest episode of Bones. (Ok I originally wrote this over a month ago and am just getting around to posting it.) She sounds the same on TV as she does in person. :)

It reminded me of the 1st and only time I saw her in concert. This year. I missed the first few sets of her concert and saw the rest. When I got there she was doing the Blues. I never knew she moved into the Blues in her later works. She was fantastic. At times you could tell she was straining herself. But it was a great concert.

What really stuck out was how much of a control freak she is. Ok, that may be harsh. Or maybe it isn't. She stopped the concert a few times to chastise the band. They weren't playing to her standards and she would stop everything and set them straight. It turns out that during their rehearsal before the concert she fired her sound man for not being good enough. The back up guy was given the job and went on tour with her.

I say control freak. A friend says perfectionist who wants to make sure her fans are getting their moneys worth. Hard to say who is right.

Oh, and considering her age, not saying if she did or did not have work done, nice tits. :)

Hockey Players of Yore.

I play Dynasty Hockey on FaceBook. It is one of my guilty pleasures. :) The game is damn frustrating bordering on stupid at times, how the hell can someone who is slated to beat the opponent 90% to their 10% lose, TWICE, and once be SHUTOUT is beyond me. It makes me realize why I stopped playing the game for a year plus. Mind you, the game does bring to the present day some of the players of the past. Players we may not hear about ... at all. Case in point, Earl Robinson.

Earl Robinson was available early on for me as a draft option. I knew, by his uniform, that he was a Montreal Maroon player. Which meant he was from the past. But I didn't know anything else about him. So I checked him out on Wikipedia. He also played for the Chicago BlackHawks and the Montreal Canadiens. While he wasn't the Wayne Gretzky of his day, he was a good player who also won a Stanley Cup.

Hockey Dynasty frustrates me and boggles my mind but I am appreciative of it for bringing players of the past to me. When I see someone I don't know, ok mainly Habs and Maroons, I look them up on Wikipedia and learn a bit of history. Hmmm ... that isn't completely true. I often see non Habs and Maroons who stir a memory or who I look up just to see who they were. For that, I thank Hockey Dynasty.

MM: Testicle Talk

We were on the drop one day and Motor Mouth was being his usual annoying self. At one point I mentioned some friends of mine. One I rarely hear from and one that I haven't actually talked to in about 2 years. I gave up because my phone messages were answered by Facebook messages usually a week or more after I left a voice message. Whether that friend was trying to send a message to me or not I did get one. Don't bother talking to him and move on. But I digress.

at that point MM had to chime in. He has a friend like that. He has known the guy since pre-school. As he started to get into his yammering groove I decided to throw a monkey wrench into his plan.

I said; "In Korea they have a name for a friend like that. It translates to Testicle Friend. You knew each back when you ran around without diapers on."

Motor Mouth blurted out "I have one!"

I was hit by one of those instances where your mouth reacts faster than your brain. Had I given thought to it, unless I wanted to instigate MM, I would never have said the first thing that came to my mind. but I said it. Quicker than MM going from 0-Dolphin I said "You only have one testicle?"

Everyone started laughing. Including my Manager, who had joined us. Motormouth went into embarassed and overcompensating mode.

"I have to balls! Nothing wrong with my balls. They are good. Feel good. Blah Blah Blah."

SO many jokes were coming into my head but I bit my tongue. Which my Manager appreciated.

Motor Mouth went on about his balls for 5 minutes. It was hilarious. ::)

Mind you, I wish I had engaged my brain before my mouth.
