I have been remiss in talking about Canadian politics. The insanity south of the border takes the spotlight more often than not. When I see what Pierre Poilievre says and does I can see reflections of Trump and MAGA in him, and the Conservative Party of Canada. PP's voting record alone should give a person pause when wondering if they should support him.
Poilievre:
Voted against raising the minimum wage
Voted against the First Home Savings Account program
Voted against $10-a-day childcare
Voted against children’s food programs at school
Voted against the child benefit
Voted against dental care for kids
Voted against Covid relief
Voted against middle-class tax cuts
Voted against the Old Age Security Supplement
Voted against the Guaranteed Income Supplement
Voted to ban abortions
Voted against housing initiatives
Voted to raise the retirement age
Voted for scabs
The ONLY Bill Poilievre has ever introduced to Parliament (1 of 7 in 20 years as an MP) that passed was called The Fair Elections Act. The title alone has me hearing Morgan Freeman's voice saying "It wasn't that fair." It exempted fundraising expenses from campaign spending limits, disenfranchised voters and increased partisanship by allowing incumbents control of the nominations for polling supervisors. A lot of what it did was undone when the Harper Government was ousted.
Looking at his record it isn't that surprising he is often called Maple Mage.
